Tournament: Danish International Amateur Championship 2011

DIAC Conditions of Play and Qualification (Men)

1.

The Championship will be played by stroke play over 72 holes. 36 holes will be played Friday, 18 holes Saturday,  18 holes Sunday. After 54 holes, the leading 36 competitors and those tying for the 36th place shall play a further 18 holes Sunday. In the event of a tie after four rounds the winner will be decided by a play-off by strokes over 3 holes to be selected by the Championship Committee. The player with the lowest aggregate score over the 3 extra holes shall be declared the winner. If the players are still tied having played these three holes, a hole by hole play-off will be played immediately over the 18th hole only until a winner emerges.

The play will be governed by the Rules of Golf, as approved by the R&A, and such local rules as shall be approved by the Championship Committee. Questions will be settled by the Championship Committee, whose decision will be final. The competition will be deemed to close when the Championship trophy have been presented.

3.

Eligibility

 

a) All competitors must be of Amateur Status as defined by the R&A.

b) Handicap limit: 2.0 – if the entries exceed 72 in number, a draw will be made amongst the holders of a higher handicap in order to reduce the entries to this number. Players eliminated by lot will be kept on a reserve list. All successful entrants will appear on the entry list 12.00 CET, Monday 20th of June 2011. Tee times will be published not later than Monday 11th of July 2011.

c) The Championship Committee reserves the right of nomination of maximum 6 invitations.

4.

Entries: Form, Fee, Closing date

 

a) All entries shall apply on the online entryform which must be received by Silkeborg Golf Club before the stipulated closing date 12.00 CET, Monday 20th of June 2011.

b) Individual entries shall be subject to confirmation of handicap by the Secretary or Handicapping Authority of competitors home club or by the Secretary of the recognised National Golf Authority.

 

c) Entry fee: DKK 1,200.00 (or € 160.00) is to be transferred by netbanking or postal order made payable to Silkeborg Golf Club, DK-8600 Silkeborg, or by wire transfer - 10 days after reception of invoice forwarded via e-mail from Silkeborg Golf Club and not later than 5th of July 2011. Foreign competitors may pay the Entry Fee upon registration.

5.

a) Transportation

 

Competitors must walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permitted to ride by the Championship Committee. PENALTY for breach of condition: Disqualification

 

b) Dress Code

 

Competitors are not permitted to wear shorts.
Caddies may wear shorts.

6.

Golf Balls, Driving clubs & Pace of play

 

All competitors will be required to play with golf balls which are on the R & A list of Conforming Golf Balls current at the date of the Championship.
PENALTY for breach of condition: Disqualification.

Driving Clubs
Any driver the player carries must have a clubhead, identified by model and loft, that is named on the current List of Conforming Driver Heads issued by the R&A.
Exception: A driver with a clubhead that was manufactured prior to 1999 is exempt from this condition.
PENALTY for Breach of Condition: Disqualification.

Pace of Play
Pace of play: Note 2 to Rule 6-7. 
In the absence of mitigating circumstances, a group is liable to be timed if it is in excess of the time allowed and in the case of second or subsequent groups, out of position.
From the commencement of timing, if any player exceeds 50 seconds on a “first to play approach shot (including par 3 tee shot), chip or putt”, or 40 seconds if it is a tee shot or “second or third to play shot” he is deemed to have had a “bad time”.
The time allowed will be determined by the appointed referee and will be published on the official notice board. Out of position is defined as being more than the starting time interval behind the group in front.
A player whose group is timed will have a bad time carried forward in the round even if the group subsequently arrives back in position or within time.
Note 1: Players will NOT be advised that they are being timed.
Note 2: Timing will be taken from the moment it is deemed by the official that it is the player’s turn to play.
Penalty for breach of condition:
One bad time - One stroke penalty.
Two bad times - Two stroke penalty
Third bad time - Disqualification.

7.

Prizes and Vouchers

 

The trophy shall remain in Silkeborg Golf Club and the winner shall have his name engraved in the trophy. The winner shall receive a memento. In addition vouchers shall be given to the 36 best players and those who are tied 36th., with DKR. 5.500 (app.  € 740) to the winner. Total prize money: No less than DKR. 40.000,00 (app. € 5,375.00).

8.

Starting times

 

Tee times shall be posted on www.diac.dk and on the official board of Silkeborg Golf Club. The Championship Committee reserves the right to fix and/or alter starting times. Failure to start on time: Note to rule 6-3 will apply.

9.

Registration

 

All eligible competitors must register in person at Silkeborg Golf Club Thursday 14th of July 2011 between 08.00 – 18.00 CET or state arrival time by e-mail or phone to Silkeborg Golf Club not later than 15.00 CET, Thursday 14th of July 2011.

10.

Weather

 

If in the Championship it becomes impossible to complete the Championship in accordance with the conditions because of adverse weather conditions or other circumstances which in the opinion of the Championship Committee make it impossible or impractical to do so the Championship Committee shall be empowered to vary such conditions to the extent necessary to achieve a result within the time available.

11.

Practice privileges

 

Thursday 14th of July. If it is desirable to practice any other day, time booking is necessary.

12.

Publicity and Promotion; Broadcasting

 

The Championship Committee may arrange for (1) promotion for the Championship, for radio and television broadcasting and other exhibition and publication of the Championship or excerpts thereof in various media, including web based medias and (2) the design, manufacture and sale of merchandise that commemorate or memorialises the Championship throughout the world. Each competitor consents to the use by the Championship Committee, or persons authorized by the Championship Committee, of his name, likeness voice and references to him and photographs and other images of him and his play connected with his appearance in the Championship, or any portion(s) thereof in connection with such media promotion, broadcasting and other exhibition and publication of the Championship and design, manufacture and sale of commemorative merchandise. The Championship Committee may utilize the rights granted it hereunder in connection with the promotion and/or commemorating of the 2011 Championship as well as future Championships.

 

The cooperation of players with authorized representative of the media is required, provided that no pre-Championship activities are required outside of those activities which are part of the Championship and provided that the player’s Championship play is not unreasonable interfered with.

13. Change of conditions
  The Championship Committee reserves the right to amend the Championship conditions.
